May 2026 Update!

Making Beauty out of Brokenness

Kintsugi is more than just repairing broken pottery—it's a journey of healing, resilience, and transformation. It's been such an amazing few months of facilitating not only public workshops where I have had the opportunity to meet so many of you, but to also bring private workshops to incredible communities who support each other in their brokenness. From recovery groups, to brain tumor patients, to brain tumor researchers.

The beauty of Kintsugi is that the lines are already laid out for you, you don't need to be "artistic" but you can also use those lines as a starting point to create on top of it too.

There was a Brain Tumor Researcher who sculpted a brain out of the putty we use and called his piece "Your Brain is in my Heart" which made many people in the room teary eyed.

One person from a recovery group broke a vase and it shattered in to too many pieces to complete in one workshop. He decided to leave many pieces out and wow, it became such a unique and symbolic piece!

This last photo is of a heart shaped plate that was Kintsugi'd by a brain tumor patient and he chose this piece because it reminded him of his wife who would have these heart shaped plates decorating the house.

I have a few spots left this Saturday if you'd like to join us this mother's day weekend.  Many people are coming with their mothers to celebrate but I also think this is the perfect artform for those who feel loss or pain on mother's day.

A way to process grief of what was lost, or maybe never was and should have been.
